Master Möhlət Xanəli oğlu Müslümov, born on August 9, 1954, in Baku, is one of the distinguished tar players and well-known figures in Azerbaijani traditional and mugham music. Through his mastery of the tar and his refined, artistic performances of Azerbaijani mugham, he has earned a respected place among the leading artists in this field.
After studying tar at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory, Master Müslümov began his professional career with the Said Rustamov National Instruments Orchestra, where he served as a soloist from 1975. In 1988, he joined the Jabbar Garyaghdioglu Mugham Trio as a soloist at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic.
In addition to his stage performances, Master Müslümov has devoted many years to music education, teaching and mentoring young musicians at the Azerbaijan National Conservatory. He has also served as artistic director of the Ahmad Bakikhanov National Instruments Ensemble at Azerbaijan Radio and Television.
Master Möhlət Müslümov has participated in numerous international festivals and events. Through performances in various countries, he has contributed to introducing Azerbaijani music to audiences around the world. His works and albums have also been released internationally.
Among his notable honors are the title of Honored Artist of Azerbaijan, awarded in 2000, the title of People's Artist of Azerbaijan, awarded in 2005, and the Presidential Award and honorary pension of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He is regarded as an influential figure in preserving and passing on the traditions of tar performance and mugham music to future generations.
